Pseudosubarachnoid Hemorrhage on MRI: A potential pitfall

چکیده

Fluid attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) is one of the most effective magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequences in diagnosis subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). However, sometimes false positive or negative results can occur. One reasons that lead to erroneous interpretation artifacts. Especially when metallic artifact occurs, hyperintensity may be observed space, similar SAH. Although FLAIR hyperintensities sulci detected many serious diseases, they are not always pathological. Artifact related hyperintensities, especially cases with severe headache, mistakenly evaluated as SAH by a clinician radiologist who well-experienced MRI. it extremely important recognise these make correct and prevent unnecessary interventions. In order achieve this, evaluation all radiological images, SWI GRE, critical. Both radiologists clinicians evaluating neuroradiological examinations should knowledgeable about this subject show maximum attention.
report, we present images 4 pseudosubarachnoid hemorrhage, which was caused conductive EEG gel other three due braces artifacts, were admitted hospital headache.

The magnetic resonance image taken by former hospital demonstrated an abnormal intensity in the fatty tissue in the skull (arrowheads). Pseudosubarachnoid hemorrhage in a 42-year-old male with meningitis

Pseudosubarachnoid hemorrhage is the appearance of subarachnoid hemorrhage on CT imaging with no source of blood found on further evaluation, including lumbar puncture and autopsy. The mechanism leading to this finding is poorly understood, and clinicians should consider this finding in the right clinical setting, such as cryptococcal meningitis. We present a case of an immunocompromised patien...

Physiological periostitis; a potential pitfall.

CASE 1 A 3 month old infant was admitted with a 24 hour history of reluctance to move her right leg. There was no history of trauma, fever, or malaise. A radiograph of the right leg was reported to show a periosteal reaction at the lateral aspect of the femur consistent with a fracture. The parents could not explain the suspected injury and a Child Protection investigation was done which found ...

Pseudo-Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: A Potential Imaging Pitfall Associated with Hypoxic Encephalopathy

Results The CT images in each patient revealed diffuse hyperdensity in the basal cisterns in an appearance similar to aneurysmal SAH. None of the patients had the typical distribution of nonaneurysmal perimesencephalic-SAH. In two of the patients, the prospective CT interpretation by the radiologist cited true SAH as the etiology of this increased attenuation within the subarachnoid spaces. In ...

Pseudo-subarachnoid hemorrhage: a potential imaging pitfall associated with diffuse cerebral edema.

We report CT findings in seven patients with diffuse cerebral edema and increased attenuation in the basilar cisterns resembling subarachnoid hemorrhage. On the basis of autopsy (three cases) and lumbar puncture (four cases) findings, true subarachnoid hemorrhage was reasonably excluded. Pathophysiologic changes that occur with diffuse cerebral edema are explored, with proposed explanations for...
